Meet Ramakanth, our passionate desi ghee maker

24 Mar 2022

Ramakanthji is an ayurvedic expert who makes ghee the traditional way for us. When we first met him, he had about 7 desi Gir cows. Recently on our visit we saw this family has grown to 100+ Indian desi cows. He does this exclusively for Healthy Buddha. The Desi ghee comes from a single Goshala. He is so passionate about what he does. We have witnessed how he along with his family literally take care of them as their own family. Each cow has a name and is treated with lot of care. The milk is collected from his Gir cows and boiled. The milk is then fermented to make curd. The curd is then converted into butter by hand churning it. The butter is then heated to separate the liquid fats (ghee) and milk solids. This gives pure desi ghee! Dont miss out on the goodness of this ghee in your daily cooking.

Divya sends goodness from Uttarakhand hills

10 Mar 2022

Divya and her mother Indra, took over the picturesque farm in Uttarakhand from her father in 2014 - They noticed that fantastic produce grown in the hills didnt have a proper market. In a passionate endeavour to preserve this mountain produce and also help the pahadi community..they set up Himalayan Haat. They farm sustainably in the hilly forests, with only natural materials ( leaves, cow dung, spring water etc..) available around them. Jungle farming, as they call it. They co-exist in harmony with bears that love their pears, deers who love juicy tomatoes ; & all the beings around them. HH farm kitchen then turns these local produce into preserves, concentrates, herb salts & more using only age old recipes that dont include chemicals/preservatives of any sort. Not just a food business..lot of effort has gone into providing women in this region, an opportunity for learning and earning to support their family.

Secret to Seshu's Perfectly Sweet Organic Sapotas !

20 Feb 2022

Seshu, our HB farmer, expert on growing sweet organic sapota tells us how its done! He says; It is important to keep the soil fertile and healthy by mulching (for developing rich organic matter) and spraying Jeemarutha ( a natural cow based microbial spray. While harvesting, each fruit is carefully hand picked, even ones at at the top of tree 30ft high by climbing up with shoulder bags! Picked at the right time and double ckecking ensures no ripening issues. All of these help bringing about that super sweet, honey like taste & pulpy texture.
