Organic Broccoli have Started at Srinivas Farm!

At Healthy Buddha, we sell broccoli for about two months each year. Typically January, February.

It comes predominantly from Srinivas’ organic farm in the outskirts of Bangalore. He has perfected the art of growing broccoli naturally, without synthetic fertilizers or harmful pesticides over the years now.

Srinivas is a laid back farmer, he grows very few vegetables but grows them very well. He has especially specialized in the likes of broccoli, celery, red cabbage, zucchini and he grows them only during winter. During summer, he just chills :-)

But whatever he grows, he takes great pride and passion in it. He ensures they are grown very cleanly without any chemicals. Also, whenever broccoli is ready, I will be the first person he will give a call and inform

"Sir, Broccoli is ready, we can start this week"

Growing broccoli organically isn’t easy. Broccoli is highly sensitive to pests and diseases, making it one of the most challenging vegetables to grow without chemicals. And it tops the dirty dozen every year.

Srinivas uses:

  • Natural Pest Control: Techniques like companion planting and neem oil sprays keep pests away.
  • Compost and Organic Manure: These enrich the soil and provide nutrients to the plants naturally.
  • Healthy Soil Practices: Crop rotation and cover crops maintain soil fertility and prevent diseases.
  • Manual Monitoring: Srinivas inspect the crops regularly to catch and address issues early.

Conventional farms often take shortcuts, relying on synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and fungicides to boost yields. These methods harm the environment and leave residues on the produce.

Srinivas’ methods are different. They’re cleaner, safer, and better for you and the planet.

Why Choose Organic Broccoli?

  • Free from harmful chemical residues.
  • Packed with nutrients like vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants.
  • Environmentally friendly farming methods.

How to Use It:

  • Steam it for a quick, healthy side dish.
  • Roast it with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  • Toss it into stir-fries, soups, or pasta dishes.

This broccoli is only available for a short time. Stock up while it’s fresh!
