Packham Pear from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.

Packham Pear, also known as Packham’s Triumph, is a popular pear variety that originated in Australia. It has a slightly uneven, bumpy green skin that gradually turns pale yellow as it ripens.

The flesh becomes soft, creamy and very juicy, with a naturally sweet and mildly aromatic flavour.

Packham pears are delicious eaten fresh and can also be used in salads, desserts, baking and preserves.

How to check ripeness: Gently press near the stem. If it gives slightly, the pear is ready to eat. If firm, leave it at room temperature for a few days. Once ripe, refrigerate to slow further ripening.

Allow it to ripen at room temperature until it gives slightly when gently pressed.
