

I Met the Legend Behind Our Award-Winning Jaggery Today!
I had a very special day today. I got to meet one V. Antony Samy, a 76-year-old pioneering organic farmer from Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, and the man who grows the sugarcane and makes our award-winning jaggery powder.
He called me last night and said he is coming to bangalore and will drop by. I immediately cancelled all my plans and got ready to receive him.
He dropped by our Healthy Buddha office in Whitefield this morning, and I was honestly super excited to meet him.
Antony Samy is considered a legend in his circles, an organic farmer, innovator, and mentor to many other organic farmers across Tamil Nadu.
He has been farming organically since 1991 and today manages over 300 acres of land, cultivating sugarcane, paddy, lemon, amla, and vegetables using completely natural methods.
After our chat, I had the privilege of taking him and his assistant out for a hearty lunch.
It was such a fulfilling experience to sit together, share a meal, and talk about farming, food, and the future of organic agriculture.
He told me he was quite impressed with the way, I was promoting organic farming. Felt good to hear that.
He also told me he has some amazing honey and rice at his farm. Something to explore in the future.

He was recognized with the 3rd National Grassroots Innovation Award (2005) by the National Innovation Foundation for developing a new acid lime variety.
