Egg fruits are a yellow orange close relative to Sapota. Some even call them as yellow Sapota.

They have a mousse like flesh which is sweet and edible raw. When ripe, flesh it is said to have texture similar to that of a thoroughly cooked egg yolk.

It's taste can be described as : sugary, but neutral flavor with notes of mango, pumpkin, sweet potato, and like tropical fruits.

Can be used as replacement to sugar in recipes due to naturally sweet nature
Popularly used to make egg fruit nog - with pulp, milk, dates & nutmeg
Also work well in pie-fillings, custards, ice-creams and spreads...smoothies too maybe
You can try it in baked items like cake, breads, pancake

The yellowish orange tint of the flesh itself gives away that it is beta carotene rich.
