Comes all the way from Meghalaya. Kew variety is oblong in shape, slightly tapering towards the crown. Eyes are broad and shallow making fruits more suitable for canning. The fruit is yellow when fully ripe and flesh is light greenish yellow, almost fibreless, and very juicy with 0.6-1.2% acid. The fruit has 14-18 brix of sweetness and is very juicy. It has more fibre and more juice than the locally available Rani Variety. The variety is also known for being easy to cut and slice and the skin is less thorny than the regular variety.
Cost is on the expensive side primarily because we are air lifting it from Meghalaya.
Will ripen in 3-4 days. To make it ripen faster remove the crown (green leaf part) and place it upside down at room temperature.
Did you know: that the lifespan of a pineapple plant is 7 years and even more interesting is the fact that the fruit is borne only after the 3rd year. Every year thereafter each plant produces only 1 fruit. 1 FRUIT PER PLANT PER YEAR, WOW!!!!
